Importance of Hiring an Event Planner

Posted by:  Eventish   |

Event planners come in all sizes, colors and types, but they typically carry some common personality traits that are the reason that they’re successful.  Planners need to be extremely organized, problem solvers, multi-taskers, customer service oriented and creative by nature.  Without these, it would nearly impossible to pull off a successful event.  So, in deciding whether or not you or your company should hire an event planner, consider whether you or somebody involved contains these qualities which are necessary.

In conjunction with that consideration, determine whether you or your staff have enough time to effectively plan and execute the event without any help or guidance.

How much time do you have before the event?

How many people do you plan on having in attendance?

Is there room in your budget for hiring an event planner?

Especially if you’re working on a tight budget, consider whether you will need or have the connections for the right suppliers.  Suppliers could involve caterers, wait staff, furniture rentals, dishware rental companies, and more.  Even if you plan to do it all on your own, you’ll need to consider which companies you would call in the case that an emergency arises.

The most important question to ask yourself when deciding if you want to hire an event planner is what would be the cost for your company if the event were unsuccessful? If the company’s reputation is riding on how well the event goes, it may be best to work an event planner into the budget- that way you have somebody to blame besides yourself if it’s a flop.

Despite whether you choose to work with an event planner or not, consider using online event management services to sell your tickets.  The innovative software will help alleviate some of the extra added stress of organizing an event.
